Events/News
Penn Quarter – During the curtain calls for performances of “A Christmas Carol,” the company will collect monetary donations on behalf of the Washington-based non-profit Covenant House Washington. Patrons also can make donations through the Ford’s Theatre Box Office. All donation checks should be made payable to “Covenant House Washington.” “A Christmas Carol” plays at Ford’s Theatre from November 21, 2013, through January 1, 2014. National Mall/Downtown – The National Christmas Tree lighting is on Friday, December 6 at 5 pm. The downside? Expect major traffic delays for the evening rush in and around downtown that day. The upside? Aretha Franklin is singing at the opening lighting ceremony. [National Christmas Tree website]

Penn Quarter – City Tap House will open in the second week of December at 901 9th St NW replacing the defunct 901 Restaurant. Mucho cerveza (beer) available on tap…the last link has some great photos. The address is in fact 901 9th St NW and not 901 I St NW as indicated on CTH’s website. Mount Vernon Triangle – Le Pain Quotidien, the French inspired coffee house chain, at 433 Massachusetts Ave is moving closer to opening. [The (Mount Vernon) Triangle]
Penn Quarter – Graffiato’s Industry Takeover Night, the first Monday of each month at Graffiato (707 6th St NW), is no longer a neighborhood or foodie event. We went to the first event when Takeover Night started last year and it was a blast. The Washington Post just wrote about it so the cat is out of the proverbial bag. This month’s event is tonight beginning at 10 pm. [WaPo] & [Graffiato restaurant – Industry Takeover Night]
Crib of the Week
Our CotW this week is rare. Very rare. Once in a decade rare. Why? It’s a penthouse unit in Mather Studio listed at $1.27 million sporting 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, tandem parking, and a wraparound deck on the top floor. The condo fee is $1026 per month. We can write all we want but we’ll let the photos in the virtual tour (last link) do the talking. Love it. [Redfin listing – 916 G St NW – Unit 1004 – MLS DC8230639] & [TruPlace Photo Tour]
