Forming In Penn Quarter: A New Playwriting Group For Women
A Penn Quarter Living reader (and resident) contacted us about forming a playwriting group for women as follows:
The purpose of the group is twofold: one, to give playwrights an opportunity to hear their works in progress read aloud by other members of the group; and two, to discuss possibilities for submitting plays to the 2015 Women’s Voices Theatre Festival, a festival of the area’s theaters to showcase world-premier plays written by women.
Although the group would provide a means for exchanging information re. contests and venues, etc., it would have little structure. It would not be a workshop or critique group, but the participants would offer one another support and encouragement. Occasionally, established dramatists (male and female) would be invited to speak about their experiences.
How often the group would meet is still undetermined. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 26.

Am I in time to join the playwriting group?
I am interested in being part of the Women’s Voices project. If the first meeting is March 26, I will have to miss it as I’ll be out of town. Would love to attend the next meeting.
Thanks!
Mary
To Mary Parish: We would love to have you join our group although as of now, there are only a few of us. But we hope to expand.
We’ve changed the date of the first meeting to Wednesday, April 9, to be held in the Lansburgh, on 7th Street, NW, or the Newseum apartments on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Please contact me at esjor1@aol.com
Thank you.
