Reader JU sent in this photo of an eviction notice which is now hanging on the front door of Gifford’s Ice Cream (555 11th St NW, entrance on E). A week or so ago we tried contracting both the Gifford’s manufacturing unit and the separately owned retail unit. The manufacturing side got back to us, but as they do not own/manage the retail stores they didn’t know when our PQ Gifford’s might reopen. We never heard back from the retail side.
Well, we still have U-Scream at 1001 Penn Ave (on 11th between Penn & E).

This is depressing. That particular Gifford’s has always been one of the most poorly run businesses I have ever been in (gives an average CVS store a run for its money), but I’m addicted to their peppermint ice cream! 
So I hope it reopens. The last thing we need is another empty storefront.

Weak. My Gifford’s Groupon expires 8/31. Guess I have to make my way out to Chevy Chase Circle or Bethesda.
