Ice Is Out, Fire Is In
The Regatta Raw Bar at the ground floor of the Marriot at Metro Center (12th & H) closed a while back. On March 27th the space will open as Fire & Sage, a restaurant with more of a bistro feel. We assume most of our readers do not frequent the Marriott hotel restaurant, but visitors to DC (who stay at the hotel) probably eat there often. Fire & Sage seems like it will be a more approachable eatery than a raw bar, but it will still cater to the tourists and not be a neighborhood destination like Poste (another restaurant in a hotel).
Will any of our readers miss the Regatta Raw Bar? Anyone excited about Fire & Sage?

Everytime I was tempted by Regatta I remember that we had Clyde’s for oysters. Or I’d look across the street and go to Luigino’s instead. That restaurant IS being missed, by moi.
Fire and Sage doesn’t look to be my thing. The other hotel bar up the street looks to be a bit more compelling.
Heard it was going to have a brick oven, extensive wine list and actually be a great neighborhood spot. Menu looks pretty cool, i am excited about the addition!
I’ll pass on this just like I pass on Poste. Last time I went to Poste, breakfast for two ran me over $40. I’ll leave these hotel restaurants to the business travelers they are designed for.
saw menus today – brickoven flatbread pizzas for $12, all day menu with sandwhiches, salads and entrees – looks very reasonable. Wines at $30 a bottle and some glasses at $8. Hot bag donuts/cookies and milk just a few of the desserts – sounds grounded and kind of cool. I’m going!!
From their window sign:
1. “a causal (sic) restaurant”
2. “wines by the glass to compliment (sic) our menu”
I hope the kitchen shows more attention to detail than their marketing department.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
