Inauguration ’09: Get Ready…

Posted by pqresident
December 29, 2008

Inauguration ‘Superstore’ opens at 421 7th Street, NW

Need a stylish Obama tee shirt for the inauguration? Still wistful for a McCain/Palin deck of playing cards? Superstore may be a strong word as we usually give South of the Border or Walmart that distinction but the seasonal retail shop that opened at 421 7th Street NW (shown above) does have an array of inauguration oriented merchandise spread out among tables on the front half of the first floor. Another photo is available after the break.

More information about Inauguration Day appearing

We’re seeing more public dissemination of information about January 20 and the days leading up to it. Below we’ve listed a few links for reference. Courtesy of a Sunday afternoon run, we can also confirm that two portable (portable is a relative term here) cell phone towers are now in place at the east end of the Mall between Constitution Avenue and the Capitol Reflecting Pool (check out the second to last link to get more detail).

Just wanted to comment that while only half the store is full at the moment, we will be filling up the rest of the store. We hope to have the whole space filled by the week before the inauguration. So if you have already visited us once, be sure to check back when we get more product.

I visited a few days ago and saw a t-shirt in the front doorway with Barack & Hillary Clinton’s face on it with the caption “Bro’s Before Ho’s.” I won’t be back. I thought that was tasteless during the election (and I’ve been a strong Obama supporter since 2004) and is even more tasteless now. As someone on an election blog said “racist AND sexist in one t-shirt, nice.”

Linda, was it like this one? http://ping.fm/Ep8zN (don’t worry, it’s not spam)

Yeah, that’s pretty bad. I think who ever came up with it is seriously missing the point.

thepete, That’s not exactly like it, but it’s very close. And yes, exactly what I thought…seriously missing the point.
