I haven’t found any real “deals” at the farmer’s market, but they seem to be on par with Whole Foods prices.
I don’t go there for the “deals” — I love the apples, broccoli and of course the *convenience*.
If only it was ALL year long.
Let’s bring the bread guy to a storefront on F street!!
The Farmer’s Market features small growers, supports sustainable agriculture and sells organic products. So it’s appropriate that items cost more than at conventional grocery stores. Everything sold there is much better than what’s at any grocery store (Whole Foods isn’t really that good). I, too, wish it were open all year. We have some good, independent shops in our neighborhood — the Cowgirl Creamery and Shimba Hills Coffee –that hopefully will be joined by other small shops. We don’t really need a grocery store if we can attract the right collection of small shops, including a green grocer.
F Street between 9th and 10th seems just perfect for a little gourmet row. A baker, butcher, and green grocer could all fit in spaces there, and the shopping experience would be just divine.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
frankly, I find a bunch of the offerings at the Farmer’s Market overpriced.
