Madame Tussauds & National Law Enforcement Officers Museum Info
Thanks to the multitude of readers who pointed us to the WaPo’s articles on Madame Tussauds (corner of 10th and F St NW) and the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum (E St NW between 4th & 5th St).
dcgarbs posted a link to some renderings of the NLEO Museum (shown at the top of this post).
Andy commented on Madam Tussaud’s expected admission fee of $25 (with several exclamation points).

It’s all a bit much if you ask me. How about a grocery store or a nice convenience store or a cool funky clothing store?
Anybody here remember what happened with DC’s last wax museum? The one on 5th and K that nobody went to and got torn down? Didn’t think so. See, that’s what happens when you don’t bother learning the history of your new neighborhood. You’re doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
If I recall correctly the last wax museum was torn down to make way for a parking garage – it was at a time when automobiles were just becoming popular and there was no place for them to park. Rectalhorror, as self-professed local historian, does that sound right?
Questions about the law enforcement memorial:
* Is this the final design?
* Does it seem odd that neither these renderings nor the current memorial has any place for people to actually sit down outside? There are a couple of people sitting on small walls in the renderings, but there seems to be a fear of creating an outdoor space where real people might congregate. Presumably that’s because of the homeles, but there are ways to create dynamic outdoor areas without being overrun by homeless folks (Bryant Park, NYC)
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Any word on the America’s Most Wanted Museum?
That would pretty much round it out
