Massive Cribs XXIII: Truly Living Large In Penn Quarter
Ed Note (7/14/14): We received am ex-post revision to the size of the Mather Studio condo requiring a slight amendment as below. It’s still darn big though! To see the biggest and most unique condos in downtown DC, check out our Cribs series of posts.
Two massive cribs for sale hit our radar screens this last week, one at The Ventana (912 F St NW) (photo above) and the other at the Mather Studio (916 G St NW). What really caught our eye? Both of these condos are combined units meaning two or more units were joined together to form a single unit. We’ve been in combined units in both Market Square (701/801 Pennsylvania Ave NW) and The Pennsylvania (601 Pennsylvania Ave NW) but those are older buildings. These are the first combined units we’ve seen in the newer downtown buildings and the first condo is the y are the two biggest residences we know about in any downtown residential building. Both are dramatically beautiful in their own way.
The first condo is in The Ventana (912 F St NW), Unit 905 (MLS #DC8380852 – Visual Tour), and the asking price is $4.5 million. It’s a four level, five bedroom, penthouse unit with a roof deck clocking in at 4,500 ft2. Condo fees run $2361 per month and the unit comes with 2 parking spaces. The unit was created by joining two stacked two level units together. We like the modern decor which is stunning, and that the staircase can be seen from the exterior of the building is a unique aesthetic. This is the biggest and most expensive residence we’ve seen come to the public MLS market in Penn Quarter and downtown DC.
The second condo is in the Mather Studio (916 G St NW), Unit 703 (MLS #DC8393957 – Visual Tour) and the asking price is $1.45 million. It’s a one level, three bedroom, two bathroom unit with 2,500 2,200 ft2 of space; condo fees run $1,052 per month and no parking is included. (There are numerous rental garages nearby.) The unit was created by putting two side-by-side units together to create a massive space. We like the raw brick walls and the historic nature of the building. This is the sixth second biggest residence we’ve seen come to the public MLS market in Penn Quarter and downtown DC.
