New Apartment Building: 919 F St NW (Above/Behind Cowgirl Creamery)!
Just noticed this posting on craigslist: “919 F Street, NW is a private boutique 5 unit building situated behind the now famous ‘cowgirl cheese shop’ in the heart of all the action in downtown DC. There are four units in total and all units come fully furnished and fully equipped for modern day living […]” Units start at $2200/mo.
The Cowgirl Creamery building is owned by Doug Jemal and sits next to Akridge’s row of yet-to-be-leased buildings (Carroll Square). Judging from the ad pics, we’re pretty sure two of the units utilize the 2nd & 3rd floor windows of the building. The building’s advertisement follows Jemal’s MO when comparing it to the apartments above the Spy Museum (which he also owns): there is no website, no one really knows it’s there, and realtors only advertise the space when there is a vacancy.
The 919 F St ad also mentions parking available for rent. On this, we are baffled – there is only alley parking behind the building.

Parking I can understand — there are a couple of garages near there that offer monthly leases. BUT where in the world is the “courtyard”? The building backs into the alley and I don’t see space between the buildings.
Anon 11:33:00: Yeah, I think the price was reduced to 2200 recently. On craigslist, there is an older ad for 2500, and the newer one says 2200..
The building has been completed and furnished for some time (maybe a year?!). I live directly behind it and can see into the 2nd floor unit kitchen. The courtyard is actually quite nice — the building is deceiving — it is shaped like a C with the hole as a courtyard (it opens into the Carrol Square building). The penthouse is 2500, the other 3 units are 2200. The story is that Jemal originally built these as apartments for visiting business associates, and that he was going to stay in the penthouse. Guess that changed. Anyway — amazing location, well built (I witnessed the construction), nice amenities, and much more.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Craigslist says 2200, but the website says 2500. That’s a shame — for 2200 I might have moved!
