O Xmas Tree
Stopping by the BP gas station (1317 9th Street NW) this past weekend, we noticed a lot nearby that was selling christmas trees [thanks to pqresident for that link!]. That once again made us wonder where PQ residents will be picking up their trees & wreaths (and perhaps mistletoe) this holiday season, both real & fake.
We assume that some enterprising retailer at the 8th St Farmers Market on Thursdays will sell wreaths, as well as our neighborhood Safeway (490 L ST NW). Where are other good spots to pick up the holiday greenery?

Unfortunately, real trees are not allowed in my PQ condo building so I will be pulling my fake one out from the closet.
Georgetown Visitation has the best trees in the whole area. Also, the money goes to a good cause, that is, if you approve of traditional Catholic girls schools where the students wear green plaid skirts & pink shirts.
If you go artificial, the best trees are like the one my aunt used to have, with the three-color rotating reflecting light. Good to read that someone’s following the condo rules
We’re also not allowed real trees so I bought a nice, fake pre-lit “fir” from Target online (free shipping!)
I like to support Garden District on 14th and S Sts NW. They have several frazier furs of various heights and wreaths as well.
dont allow real trees? is that a joke?!?
for those of you all who want to support a great local business do go to Old City Green at 9th & N, I went there last night and procured a buxom tree. Prices are good & Frank is a sweetie. http://lifein.mvsna.org/index.cfm/2008/12/3/Holiday-Cheer
For those not having the means to go out and get a tree, or the desire to deal w/ the hassle, try North Star Christmas Trees, which will deliver, set-up, and pick up. We did it last year for our condo (that did allow real trees) and it was great. It’s not cheap, but well worth it.
I just got a great tree from Old City Green. Frank was super nice and helpful. I will definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking around for a tree.
Georgetown Visitation has frasier firs that were cut in North Carolina on Wednesday from the same farm that supplies Martha Stewart’s trees. We got a seven-to-eight footer for $75 this morning (Saturday); five-to-six footers are $60.
Great trees; good price; good cause. The school is on 35th Street NW at Volta (between P & Q).

We always buy our tree at the Lowes in Alexandria. It’s a longer drive than is reasonable but its hard to pass up a well shaped 6′-7′ tree for $35. Maybe there are also good deals around town but we are creatures of habit.
