Jetties, the Nantucket-inspired sandwich, soup and salad staple of the DC area, is opening in Penn Quarter on April 15. As part of the official grand opening celebration on April 16, the first 100 people through the door will receive a free Nobadeer, the restaurant’s signature creation and frequent resident on DC Best Sandwiches lists. The roasted turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on sourdough delight will bring a taste of Thanksgiving in April. Doors open at 11:00am, limit one per person.
Jetties Penn Quarter will have more than 60 outdoor seats, making it one of the largest spaces for outdoor casual dining in the neighborhood.
Jetties is DC’s go-to spot for delicious and innovative sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. Penn Quarter is the sixth location for the DC-based chain, with others in Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Cathedral Heights, Downtown, and its flagship store on Foxhall Road. Jetties is part of Georgetown Events, which also owns Surfside Glover Park, Surfside Taco Stand Dupont, Bayou, The Fairgrounds, Smith Point, and Due South (opening this summer).

Got Trunk?

Calling all PQ men, do you need to update your wardrobe for the Summer wedding and party season, your fabulous new job, or just because you’re finally ready to find out what skinny pants are all about? Then, you should check out Trunk Club. We met with them yesterday for our day job and think their personal stylist service, awesome PQ loft space (525 9th St., NW) with ample dressing areas (they’ll even host a party with your buddies for some boozy shopping), and both off-the-rack, head-to-toe clothing and custom made suits are a truly an innovative option for the average guy who doesn’t love to shop, but still wants to look his best.
You can also sign up for their online service where your personal stylist picks items just for you and they are shipped right to your home. Owned by Nordstrom, we definitely think the options here are more stylish than other “box” shopping options we’ve seen. We especially like this Summer blazer from Moods of Norway, with the silly tag “Made with Love by really, really pretty blonde girls.”

Bluebird Bakery Popup Open At Prequel In Penn Quarter (918 F St NW)
The Bluebird Bakery pop-up is up and running having opened last week at 918 F St NW next to The Ventana condominium. Bluebird offers breakfast and lunch items between 8 am and 3 pm and is the first pop-up from EquityEats Prequel that took over 918 F St NW from LivingSocial. No cash is accepted so you’ll need to bring a charge card as they state they are a “cash free” business. Prequel presented their business model at a recent Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association breakfast meeting.
The coffee shop is set up on the first floor on the right after entering the building. For those who attended LivingSocial events, this is the same area as the reception area where attendees checked in for events.
You can find the opening menu here. If anyone drops in for breakfast or lunch, let us know how it went in the comments. (A hat tip goes out to a regular PQ Living reader for alerting us that Bluebird opened!)
