Brick & Mortar Bar Now Open In Penn Quarter (918 F St NW)
Brick & Mortar, the bar at Prequel’s 918 F St NW, is now open serving small bites, cocktails, beer, and wine. This is one of the coolest bars around Penn Quarter because of its tucked away nature in the basement of this World War I era building (photos) – we’re glad to see this libation spot open again.
Brick & Mortar is open Tuesday through Saturday 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm with happy hour running from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The food menu [PDF] shows off a small bites approach suitable for pairing with the drink menu [PDF] which reflects availability of a selected array of cocktails, wine, and beer.
Per the website:
Brick & Mortar serves classic, pre-prohibition, and original cocktails with a focused liquor selection. We feature premium international and American craft spirits, along with local distilleries when possible. Our cocktails and house-made shrubs and syrups are guided by seasonality but not restricted to it. We curate a list of small-production wines from both Old and New World wine regions, while our variety of beer, mead & cider highlight the best local and international breweries.
Poste Races into Spring
Poste (555 8th St., NW) at the Hotel Monaco has introduced a completely new menu. From cocktails to dinner, expect the typical attention to local, season ingredients with some new twists. We particularly enjoyed the Sherry Walsh cocktail (gin, sherry, grapefruit-infused St. Germaine and bitters). Be sure to check out the new menu on their fabulous Patio as they kick off Spring and Summer entertaining with Edible DC on May 9 – Edible DC Cocktail Derby. Featuring the spirit of the South, bourbon, and many other local favorites, Southern-inspired bites, and your best Bows and Belles attire, it’s sure to get everyone in the spirit. Giddyup!
Dolcezza Gelato & Coffee Opens At CityCenter (904 Palmer Alley)
Dolcezza (904 Palmer Alley), a gelato and coffee shop opened in CityCenter last week, and we dropped by to sample the goods. The store offers coffee, baked goods, gelato, and fresh milk for sale. Located at the corner of Palmer Allery and 9th St NW, the sweet tooth in us will have us returning to try the gelato for sure. They are open until 11 pm Monday through Thursday, Midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 pm on Sunday. This is yet another step for CityCenter in filling their ground level retail spaces.
