Penn Quarter Holiday Images
Neighborhood stores and businesses decorated and we noticed. While we wait for the snow to arrive, enjoy these images of windows from around the neighborhood! (P.S. The accumulation totals have been lowered to 1 to 3 inches for DC proper.)

Happy Holidays From PQL
We want to wish all of our neighbors a happy holiday and new year!
Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow and it should supply a nice backdrop for some beautiful photos of Penn Quarter. Look for some eye candy posts over the next few days. Also, as a reminder, our Flickr tag is pqliving.
Feels Like The First Time
Do you ever look at something and wonder “has that been there all along?” That’s the position we find ourselves in this morning. While out walking the dog we noticed bike racks in the street on D & 8th St NW. These racks are popping up all over PQ, but so far always (as far as we know) on the sidewalk. Granted this is a dead-end at 8th St, and a no parking zone as well. But have these been here for a while, or are we right in thinking these are brand new?
It’s a great use of the space as far as we’re concerned, more bike (or dog) parking is always welcome. It looks like there is even enough room on either side for the delivery trucks we see parked there on a daily basis.
ZPizza Open And Delivering! (806 H Street NW)
We dropped by the newly opened ZPizza at 806 H Street NW (next to Five Guys), chatted with the owner, and sampled the pizza. Our verdict? It’s a nice addition to the neighborhood and a second option for finding a slice without having to order a whole pizza. ZPizza renders the tasty dinner pie in three sizes (10″, 14″, and 18″) using an organic, light wheat crust, and healthy natural ingredient approach offering both gluten free and vegan options for those so inclined.
We took a turn tasting the ZBQ pizza which includes BBQ sauce, BBQ chicken, roasted peppers, mozzarella cheese, cliantro, and sweet corn finding the combination of flavors both interesting and workable. The crust is light and the overall mix of ingredients leaves a flavorful sense in the mouth without a greasy aftertaste. It’s not Chicago deep dish but it doesn’t strive to be. The full menu includes salads, sandwiches, rusticas (pizza on a free-form crust), and pastas. Available sodas can be found from a standard soda self-serve fountain machine which seems to be de rigueur these days for fast food establishments. Seating is available at four tops in a plain interior and ordering is done at the counter. Delivery within a one mile radius and online ordering are also available.
Will we go back? Yes, we will.
