Penn Quarter Featured In DC Modern Luxury Magazine
We thought we’d mention this interview (page 100) that we did for the DC edition of Modern Luxury magazine. The interview focuses in on the influx of restaurants to the Penn Quarter. Check it out! For those who don’t have Adobe Flash installed on your PC, an outtake of the article can be viewed here.
Out With The Art, In With The Gelato
A green Pitango Gelato sign went up in the former Zenith Gallery space at 413 7th Street NW. We caught a few construction workers leaving the site and quizzed them about the interior condition but mum’s the word on when they’re opening. Other locations for Pitango include P Street near Logan Circle, Fells Point (Baltimore) and Reston Town Center (Virginia). Anybody do the Pitango yet?
Limited Restaurant Week Menus
We tend not to go out very often over restaurant week. Much as we love the idea, we’re not big fans of the (often times) limited menus, crowded restaurants, and the fact that we seldom want appetizer, meal, and dessert in one sitting. Of course you’re not limited to the restaurant week menu, you can just order al la carte as you would any other night at one of these restaurants.
Well you can at most restaurants. We went to Bibiana for lunch yesterday and planned to skip the restaurant week menu. We love the various Bibiana pizza offerings, so we were crushed when we sat down to discover they were serving the restaurant week menu only. No pizza for us.
Our meal was very good, just a lot heavier than we wanted for lunch (and it wasn’t pizza). We haven’t gone out for a restaurant week lunch in a while, is this a common occurence?
Mayor Fenty Attending January Downtown Neighbor Meeting Tomorrow Night!
The January Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) meeting will take place tomorrow night in the Calvary Baptist Church (use the entrance at 733 8th Street, NW) between 6:30 pm and 8 pm. It is easy to find since it is just north of the parking garage, you will find an entrance ramp to the main entrance. There is a call box once in the vestibule that you can use to get the door unlocked. The meeting will be in the second story chapel.
Who’s coming, you ask? Mayor Fenty himself! Mayor Fenty will take the floor at approximately 7 pm and will be the only discussion leader. The MPD from PSA (Public Service Area) 101W will be there at 6:30 pm also to share the latest regarding safety in the area.
