Crimson Diner Now Open To Public In Pod Hotel (627 H St NW)
The Crimson Diner is now certifiably open to the public on the ground floor of the Pod Hotel at 627 H St NW. We stopped by yesterday to get breakfast for dinner and were really quite smitten by the whole thing. The ambience is clean and uncluttered, the food was fantastic and hit the spot, and the menu pricing fill the need for a moderately priced sit down meal in Penn Quarter/Chinatown. Lastly, it wasn’t overrun with patrons meaning it might just remain our own neighborhood secret, at least until the rooftop bar opens in July. The basement Whiskey Bar should open soon thereafter.
Check out the drink and food menu photos below.

Formerly the Shophouse Kitchen, this close to proxy replacement, Bibibop Asian Grill, opened last Saturday at 710 7th St NW. This build-a-bowl Asian influenced fast casual restaurant allows the patron to select a base (rice, salad, or wrap), a protein (chicken, steak, or tofu), a hot topping, a cold topping, and a sauce to top it all off. The menu can be found here.

We received word from Property Group Partners that Union Square Hospitality Group, a New York City restaurant group that runs the famous Gramercy Tavern, will open what we presume to be a restaurant operation of some kind in the Capitol Crossing development that is building on top of the decked over I-395 extension on the east side of the Penn Quarter neighborhood.

The tweet above says it all. The Whiskey Diner will open its rooftop bar in July at the Pod Hotel which opened in the spring of this year on H Street NW. We imagine the view from the top of the Pod Hotel is amazing and it’ll be our own neighborhood’s “go to” spot for a drink, appetizers, and/or dinner. The Crimson Diner which is on the ground floor of the Pod Hotel opens on June 26 and this article has the menu.
