Kofuku Ramen And Sushi Open In Chinatown (815 7th St NW)
Kofuku Ramen and Sushi is now open in place of the Wah Shing Kung Fu Gift Shop at 815 7th St NW. The gift shop closed unceremoniously a number of weeks ago and the store front was papered over for a while. Then, one Sunday in early April the store t reopened as a restaurant, a ramen restaurant to be exact. A Yelp site is the only online presence for the restaurant.
As far as we know, only two Chinese gift shops now remain open in Chinatown.
Sephora Now Open In Penn Quarter (1000 F St NW)
Retail continues to flourish on F Street with the recent opening of Sephora, a popular beauty and makeup store, last week at 10th and F St NW (1000 F St NW). We reported on the redevelopment of this corner almost exactly three years ago. The store is open 10 am to 9 pm daily except Sunday when it is open 11 am to 7 pm.

Hen Quarter Plans To Open In Old Austin Grill Space (750 E St NW)
It looks like Hen Quarter–a local Southern Cuisine and Bourbon Bar chain–will be coming to Penn Quarter. We’re already having trouble getting the phrase “Penn Quarter Hen Quarter” out of our head.
The restaurant will be located at 750 E St NW–previously Austin Grill, which closed in April 2016. Hen Quarter is part of the same group, Pheast Food Group, that operates Austin Grill, alongside other concepts like Be Right Burger and The American Tap Room.
The Hen Quarter website is already operational and the supper menu can be found here. According to the website:
At Hen Quarter, our home, our history, our food, is Southern born. … We hold fast to our responsibility to support sustainable agriculture and the farming community within our region.
We also saw a hint that the restaurant may be opening in the April 21 timeframe from Twitter user Barred in DC.
Expect @hen_quarter to open in old Austin Grill space in @pqliving April 21st or so
