Q: When Is A Chef’s Table Not A Chef’s Table?
A: When the chef doesn’t visit your table? Or maybe half of the table has its back to the kitchen? Or perhaps when you’re ordering off the same menu as the rest of the restaurant?
We’d been hearing some rumblings that the chef’s table at Brasserie Beck left much to be desired. Beck’s one of our favorite restaurants so we wanted to see for ourselves if the complaints had merit. Gathering together a collection of friends, we made our chef’s table reservations hoping those complaining were wrong.

Countdown To Carbs
It’s all Bruegger’s all the time here at PQLiving this weekend, as we now note that the finishing touches are being applied to their PQ location. Saturday morning the big sign went up, so hopefully the info LiveAndWorkinPQ got is correct & we’ll all be munching on bagels come Monday!
AfterHours at Hirshhorn Tonight
We’re never quite sure how word spreads about AfterHours at the Hirshhorn – we saw a click through ad on WaPo – but it is always a great evening out mixing modern art, socializing with the like minded, live performances outdoors and dancing. The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Independence Ave between 7th and 9th Streets) throws open its doors from 8 pm to 12 Midnight to host the event and the cost is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Sometimes tickets sell out, sometimes they don’t…this is the first AfterHours of the good weather season.
