For the last few weeks, the Navy Memorial fountain has been running at barely a trickle (probably due to the wind). But yesterday, the water spouts were once again running at full steam much to the delight of three juvenile mallards.
*Since moving here from the Wild West three years ago, these are the closest thing that I have seen to wildlife. Besides the tourists, of course.
Smithsonian Craft Show Delights

Long before I moved to Washington, DC, I discovered the Smithsonian Craft Show. This week and for the 26th year, the Smithsonian Craft Show will be open from April 10 through 13 during daylight and some nighttime hours at the National Building Museum. This show combines two of my favorite things – viewing the work of talented artists and buying wearable art, jewelry, furniture and other wonderful crafts.
What I have found over the years is that many of the beautiful crafts that I see at this show I later find in stores for double and triple the price. These artists are at the leading edge of their crafts and can be considered investment décor, art and clothing.

View of Penn Quarter From Nationals Ballpark
Want to watch the Nats game and admire the view of Penn Quarter? We recommend the upper infield gallery, sections 416 – 420. The National Building Museum is the most striking landmark in Penn Quarter (aside from the Old Post Office Building tower). Ticket prices are only $17 per game from these sections.
Newseum Early Reviews
Yesterday WaPo offered their look at The Newseum (555 Penn Ave, NW) which is set to open to the public this Friday, April 11. PQ Living readers don’t seem to be taking to the price of admission as the “Never – it’s too expensive” response holds a slim lead for the current poll asking when readers would schedule a visit. WaPo balked also saying the admission fee “feels stiff.” The 42 Bus also has an in depth write up with nice pictures you’ll want to check out. We will all have our free opportunity on Friday to visit the Newseum and come to our own conclusions.
