Proper 21 announced that they are hosting their grand opening party on Friday, October 21 starting at 9 pm. The link to the Facebook invite can be found here.
Proper 21 takes the place of Noelia Restaurant and Finemondo which occupied the space previously. Per the website, Proper 21 is described as follows:
Proper 21 will be a high end sports bar serving All American classics with a gourmet twist created by Executive Chef Edward Janda. Proper 21 is the third location of NIEUW Group Inc.
Like its predecessors, located in New York City, Proper 21 will serve contemporary American cuisine. The space will maintain the modern aesthetic and New York style of the Manhattan locations, which have best been described as Tom Ford meets Thomas Edison.
No menus yet but we’ll keep you posted after they open.
Foodie Radar: Bibiana
We recently enjoyed a delicious meal at Bibiana (1100 New York Ave. NW). This had been a favorite spot of ours several years ago and after a long hiatus, we were curious to see how they have fared.
They did not disappoint! From the interesting cocktail list to warm service and this especially creative and delicious lamb belly with chocolate sauce, we were pleased to see that while the new spots get all the hype, it’s consistency that wins every time.
Metro Holding HQ Public Hearing On Thursday, Oct 20 On Proposed Reduced Hours Of Operation
Metro is holding a public hearing at Metro HQ (600 5th St NW) for much of the day on Thursday, October 20 to solicit feedback on the four proposed schedule reductions plus supplemental bus service that will allow Metro to clear the backlog of maintenance items needing attention. Solicitation of feedback from the public will run until 5 pm on October 25, 2016 and will be provided to Metro’s Board of Directors for their December 2016 meeting where they will make a final decision on the matter.
The open house will run from 12 Noon to 9 pm and the public hearing portion will run from 12:30 pm to 10 pm allowing plenty of time for plenty of comments (Docket B16-03: Restriction of Metrorail Operating Hours [PDF link]).
If you ride the subway extensively (or even once in a while) and want to provide input on the schedule reductions, now is the time to do so.
