Vegas Restaurant Looking Around
Thanks to DG-rad for pointing out a Washington Business Journal article about Little Buddha, an Asian-French Las Vegas restaurant, looking for space in DC with the PQ high on the list. Maybe we should change our motto to, “What happens in the Penn Quarter, stays in the Penn Quarter.”
Downtown Neighborhood Association Meeting Next Tuesday
Before you check out this Friday for the long Columbus Day weekend, don’t forget that the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s (DNA) October meeting is next Tuesday, October 9 in the Navy Memorial Heritage Center in Market Square (701 Penn Ave, NW) from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
The key discussion leaders will be DC City Administrator Dan Tangherlini and Chapman Todd of Catholic Charities. Tangherlini was the Interim General Manager for Metro and Todd is a regional director for Catholic Charities, the organization that runs (but doesn’t own) homeless shelters around DC including the Franklin School Shelter at 13th and K Street, NW and the John Young Center at 119 D Street, NW. This will be a good opportunity to ask questions about the city’s administration and about its strategy to provide the city’s homeless population with human services.

No More Chunky Monkey In PQ?
Walking by the Washington Welcome Center (“WWC”) at 1001 E ST NW this morning, we noticed the Ben & Jerry’s counters being removed. Speaking with the employees of the WWC we’re told that B&J is no longer operating at that location.
We still have decent ice cream options in the PQ, both Giffords (right next door) & Maggie Moo’s (a block away) are great places. Was the competition with next door Giffords too much for B&J? This blogger favors Giffords, but that may be because I got my fill of Maggie Moo’s when living in Kalorama. Too bad all three couldn’t survive, we prefer more options to fewer.
