With the exterior facade of the corner bulding at 10th and F Streets completely refreshed, Madame Tussauds DC will open for a red carpet opening gala tonight and to the public tomorrow at 10 am. The first two days will see a $10 admission charge with a portion of the proceeds going to Bread for the City (regular adult admission is normally $25). Two red carpet openings in one week is more Hollywood than it is DC but that’s just the surface of it.

This blogger is curious if the people getting tattoos or piercings at B&K are PQ residents? DC metro area residents? Tourists? Maybe a fact finding mission is in order, a PQ Living tattoo perhaps?
Wolfgang Puck’s New Restaurant, The Source, Opens Oct 10!
Metrocurean has the scoop on Wolfgang Puck’s much anticipated new restaurant offering. The Source will feature two levels of dining just steps from the National Mall and National Gallery Of Art (SE corner of 6th & D St NW). The first floor will be a bar & lounge while the upper floor will feature fine dining with an Asian inspired menu.
It all opens next Wednesday, Oct 10!
Express Solves the Mystery of the “Odd Fellows”
Like many Penn Quarter residents, I often pass by 423 7th Street NW and wonder “What the heck is the International Order of Odd Fellows and what do they do in that building?” Last week, the Washington Post Express solved the mystery.
It appears that the IOOF is a nearly two centuries old fraternal organization founded in Baltimore. The Odd Fellows are dedicated to charitable causes particularly disaster relief, feeding the hungry and mentoring youth. The organization admits both men and women.
And you thought there might be something illicit going on inside that rather creepy looking building. Shame on you!
