RSS FeedHPRB Approves Construction Fence for 627-631 H St NW (Chinatown)
Yeni Wong is about to fence in her first project underneath the friendship arch. 627-631 H St NW are the former homes for Lei Garden and China Doll. Both buildings are *not* historic and have been approved for demolition. The buildings will make way for a new office+retail project. Wong’s second project (Gallery Square), which entails partial demolition of the CVS (801 7th St NW) and the neighboring restaurant on 7th, is still a ways off. CVS is holding on to their lease for dear life and the issue will be hitting the courts in a few months.

- This is to advise the public that due to a special event scheduled on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, the following traffic and pedestrian restrictions will be in effect:
4:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., will be restricted to vehicular traffic to one lane in each direction between North Capitol Street and 2nd Street, N.W.
8:30 a.m. – approximately Noon
Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic between North Capitol Street and 2nd Street, N.W.
It must be noted that beginning at 4:00 a.m. until approximately noon, trucks or buses will be prohibited on Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., between Capitol Street and 2nd Street, N.W.
National History Day Comes To Gallery Place (June 13)
PRWeb has details on a mid-day Wednesday event at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
As part of National History Day, 22 students will present their projects at the Reynolds Center (8th & G St NW) reflecting this year’s theme “Triumph and Tragedy in History” between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Performances will take place in the museums’ Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium while documentaries and exhibits will be on display in the auditorium lobby. Visitors can reach the auditorium via the museums’ G Street lobby.

Anyone who walks down 7th St towards Pennsylvania Ave will witness skateboarders zipping around the plaza in front of the PNC Bank. Especially on a nice weekend day. The ‘boarder above multitasks; he can skate and talk on the mobile at the same time. Are these guys and gals a visual nuisance or simply part of the urban fabric? Weigh in with your thoughts.
