Anon pointed us to a Washington Business Journal report that the Textile Museum is seriously looking at moving into the HNTB space at 421 7th St NW! (A final decision is expected tomorrow, May 3)
HNTB Architecture moved to 1615 M St NW.
The Textile Museum is currently located at 2320 S St NW and would retain its old space if it seals the deal with the 7th street location.
ANC 2C Meeting Tonight – Changes Eminent?
First’s first..
What: ANC 2C meeting
When: Wednesday May 2, 6:30pm
Where: Africare – 440 R Street NW
Ok, now for an update on the current state of affairs in our [unfortunately] very dysfunctional ANC 2C.
There was a meeting with Jack Evans and the four ANC 2C commissioners. The result of that meeting was:
- Ms Curtis and Ms Brooks acquiesced to Mr Evans’ request that another Commissioner take over the duties of ANC 2C’s Secretary. Commissioner Chapple would be unanimously elected at the May 2 meeting as the new Secretary. He will have the responsibility of preparing and distributing meeting minutes from then forward. [This intention was rescinded by Brooks the following day]
- If Wednesday’s meeting does not take place without problems, Mr Evans would step in and hold ANC 2C meetings himself.
- During the Monday meeting, Ms Curtis also stated that she would not seek re-election in 2008, but would continue in her position out of duty to those constituents who elected her to office in 2006.
Ever wonder how the Greene Turtle got up and running without there being an ANC meeting for the past 2 months? Jack Evans’ office granted a stipulated liquor license for The Greene Turtle due to the need for such approval prior to a Washington Wizards’ NBA playoff game.
As a reminder to residents, the ANC 2C commissioner who is responsible for 1/2 of Penn Quarter is Doris Brooks and she couldn’t care less about our concerns or what goes on “down here.” Come next election, we need to do a better job at voting her out of office.
