The first contemporary art fair, artDC, will be held at the DC convention center from April 27-30, 2007. Hours are 11am to 7pm, and 5pm on Monday.
Note that admission is free on Friday, April 27!
- On April 27th the District of Columbia will be designated as the art capital of the world as curators, collectors, connoisseurs, dealers, movers and shakers from the four corners of the globe gather for DC’s first modern and contemporary art fair – artDC. This premier art fair opens its doors to the public on Friday, April 27th at the Washington Convention Center, Hall E and runs through Monday, April 30th.
artDC will feature a select group of 85 galleries, tapped to present the “best of the best” from the modern and contemporary art world. The fair will bring together internationally respected and established galleries from Europe, Asia and the Americas, featuring all disciplines – including, painting, photography, sculpture, works on paper and video-to provide a dynamic cross-section of today’s multi-dimensional art market. A strong showing of DC’s finest galleries that includes Hemphill, Conner Contemporary, Robert Brown Gallery, Adamson Gallery, Curator’s Office and G Fine Art, will establish artDC as one of the not-to-be-missed annual fairs.

Is The Washington Business Journal Ripping Off The Gallery Place Living Blog? (You Decide!) *Prediction Update*
Recent information about the Juan Valdez shop closing triggered a usual thought in this blogger’s mind: “I wonder how long until the Washington Business Journal rips this post off.” So, we decided to post some evidence. Coincidence or not? One thing is for sure: the Washington Business Journal has never credited this blog as a source for any of its leads.

Juan Valdez Space Already Leased To Another Entity! (7th & E St NW)
Less than a week ago, we heard from Karl that Juan Valdez would be closing on April 30th (7th & E St NW).
Well, Andy in PQ just left a comment that an employee of Juan Valdez said that someone has indeed already taken over the lease.
Let the speculation begin!
