Thanks to Si for letting us know that this month’s ANC 2C meeting will be held at a new location that is a lot closer to Penn Quarter residents: 616 H St, 2nd floor (Chinatown Cultural Center).

We have a large update since we haven’t done this in the past week or two. Nothing unexpected in here – another office building gets started (251 H St NW), Bedrock Billiards (714 7th St NW) begins construction, and the Cirque du Soleil is approved to occupy the old convention center parking lot.

Neighboring Union Station Area To Gain New Residents
Cheryl sends us word of a Washington Business Journal article that notes: Local developer Akridge on Thursday obtained the air rights over the train tracks behind Union Station to build a 15-acre mixed-use complex, to be called Burnham Place at Union Station. (Note: Akridge built the Gallery Place complex)
Akridge plans to build offices, a retail center including a medium-sized box store, residential towers and a hotel.
But, this process won’t happen fast. Akridge says that it will take 18 months to get title to the “air” and another year to design the site.
Jazz On The Mall Today!
Cheryl writes in to let us know that there is Jazz on the Mall from 12:00-8:00pm (at the Washington Monument Grounds, Sylvan Amphitheatre, National Mall at 15th Street). It’s part of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival.
