GP Living was on the chat scene when the WaPo interviewed Jim Abdo yesterday in conjunction with his newly formerly announced development on New York Avenue at Bladensburg Road. We participated in the online discussion and asked about Abdo’s plans for the East End. The exchange went as follows:
Penn Quarter…from the blog Gallery Place Living: When do you anticipate making a further announcement about development of the 3rd Street lot in the East End? What will become of the Harrison, the abandoned apartment building, next door? Thx, GP Living
Jim Abdo: We hope to break gound in Penn quarter late next year on several projects in the 3rd and Mass. area. One will likely be an office buiding that will incorporate the historic Landmark Canterbury building, the vacant lot will be housing. There are wonderful view at those sites of the Capitol and National Building Museum.

Chinatown Mention In WSJ
You know you’ve hit the big time when your neighborhood gets mentioned in the Wall Street Journal. Chinatown showed up in a recent WSJ article on how housing supply is on the upswing and prices are on the downswing with the Washington area’s median housing price rings in at $422,500. New York City’s median, the highest, chimes in at $880,000 and St. Louis’, the lowest, at $137,200. If you want to check our area’s statistics in more detail, the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors website publishes a monthly report for DC. The WSJ maintains its own Real Estate Journal website as well.
District To Provide More RSS Feeds (Crime, Property, Licenses, Permits)
We came across this info at JD’s Near Southeast website. For those who have an insatiable appetite for RSS feeds, the District will be providing several new data feeds in the next few months. Here is the Data Release Schedule.
