i gotta be honest… some of those after hours permits are waaaaaaay more disturbing than clubs….

I can’t believe residents [portion of comment redacted] are willing to put up with this. Do they have special soundproofing?
just a reminder to our community to check our new comment policy. calling out specific condo buildings will get a hard look by forum moderators and may be redacted or cause comment rejection.
What the…? What kind of “blog” is this anyway? Somebody can’t mention a condo building without being subjected to censorship? This proves that not everybody in D.C. is a Democrat. This also just goes to show that anyone can run a blog, just like anyone can run for vice president, but it doesn’t mean they know what they’re doing or that they have brains.
condos have their own blogs or forums where their residents can better raise condo or HOA specific matters. mentioning a building here doesn’t automatically turn into redaction nor rejection, but it does get a closer look. every comment is moderated but isn’t rubber stamped and since comments are subject to interpretation, moderation won’t be perfect nor will it satisfy everyone all of the time. we do appreciate the time people take to comment on PQL and recognize that a diversity of views make it interesting. also, you can always write us at the Contact Us address if you have any questions or concerns about comment moderation (after reading the Comment Policy). hope this helps.
I’ll disagree with that. There are certain condos in the VERY PQ area that do not have such outlets and go to great extents to alienate their residents. This is being done by failing to have condo meetings or failing to maintain or advertise forums. This is why there really needs to be a PQ forum rather than a blog to voice concerns. Unfortunately, whoever were to run such a forum would probably face constant legal action due to the amount of lawyers in the VERY local area who can be quite trigger happy with paperwork.
Focus, fellow commenters. It is okay that the name of the condo I mentioned was removed. Maybe we can debate blogging policies in another post. But, let’s focus on these all-night permits being thrown to the developers without regard for the people who live here. This would NEVER happen in another major city (Chicago, New York come to mind). I guess I am venting at the lack of an uproar. This is October, Sweeps Month, why aren’t consumer reporters from local networks out here demanding an explanation? Maybe they will once the overnight work begins?
I live in a condo building which I will not name, but it is right across the street from the FBI building, and right next to 901 E St. And although the permit on this blog states the crane activity will start at 4AM on October 20th-Nov 21st, it started this morning at 4AM – and it was LOUD and ANNOYING. I for one and calling DCRA this week. I don’t understand the process here, but it doesn’t seem as if residents get input into whether or not 4AM every morning including weekends for 2 months is reasonable. Or, maybe it went to our ANC (2C) because they are given “great weight”, and Doris Brook, not even recognizing her constituents in the PQ, didn’t give it any thought.
i Live in the 900 block of E Street and am shocked I’ll be awakened at 4 AM for an entire month – how do I voice my complaints over this?
What you need to do is contact your city councilperson and/or ANC commissioner (if it’s Doris Brooks, forget it). Somebody should be keeping these developers in check. Contact the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association, Jo-Anne Neuhaus. Also, call the police to report illegal construction.
I live at [redacted in advance to save the censors’ time] and am sick and tired of construction activity by [ditto]. It’s time to really pressure our city councilperson […] and ANC commissioner […]. If worst comes to worst, then we should petition […]. In any case, contact […] to voice you concerns about […].
Ain’t the PQ Living blog great to get at issues in our neighborhood in […]?
not to put too fine a point on it:
these will get approved…
– the [condo building] is right across the street from The Source. Wolfgang Puck just beyond your doorstep can’t be all bad.
– [condo building] has a gym and a pool…a mix of 1 BRs and 2 BRs.
these won’t get approved…
– the President of [condo building] puts their pants on backwards and is dumber than a bag of rocks.
– I’ve heard that the [condo building] is broke and is about to levy a huge assessment.
anything in between we look at and consider. comment moderation by definition is subjective but them’s the rules.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Is one of these what all that jackhammering racket was around the Verizon Center last night till 4am!? Really?
