RSS FeedPQ Reader Captures Penn Ave Steam Pipe Rupture
Thanks goes out to Penn Quarter Living reader, Rusty, for thinking to send us some pics of a ruptured steam pipe this evening on the 500 block of Penn Ave (outside of the Newseum & Canadian Embassy). MPD cordoned off the surrounding area because ruptured steam pipes have the potential to get really nasty.

There has been a large tube directing steam out of a vent in front of the Newseum/Embassy for awhile. I walk past it on the way home from work, and gosh does it smell awful.
I’ve often wondered what causes the excess steam, but for now, I’m just grateful that no one was hurt by it.
