PQ Street Being Named After Bud Doggett On Friday
Thanks to the Washington City Paper for the heads up that the 700 block of 10th St NW is going to be dedicated on Friday in honor of Bud Doggett. Doggett, who apparently got his real estate start by taking over his father’s downtown parking lot business, had been dubbed the “Parking Lot Tycoon.” To this blogger, the association with parking lots is not exactly a positive one, but is definitely a part of PQ history. The WaPo obituary also offers some insight as to why a street would be named after Doggett. He founded Heros Inc in 1964 which is a non-profit dedicated to helping fallen police officers’ families. Doggett most recently owned the class C office building at 666 11th St NW.
The dedication of Bud Doggett Way will occur this Friday at 11:30am on the corner of 10th and H St NW.
