Think Food Lab Eatery Now Open In Market Square In Penn Quarter (701 Penn Ave NW)
Think Food Lab (701 Pennsylvania Ave NW) is now open in Market Square in Penn Quarter. We stopped by for lunch and were suitably delighted with the offerings inside from Pepe, Jose Andres’ food truck by the same name. From the website, the concept behind the eatery is below:
ThinkFoodLab is a unique space of learning and experimentation that will host a series of rotating fast casual culinary concepts. Inspired by José Andrés’ passion for innovation and experimentation this space will test the unknown and develop new delicious stories to tell. For its initial debut, ThinkFoodLab will feature Pepe, which celebrates the Spanish style sandwiches of José’s native Spain. We welcome your thoughts, ideas, and feedback as we try new dishes, new concepts.
Menus can be seen in the photos below. The eatery is only open during the weekdays from 11 am to 6 pm and it is well worth a visit.
A number of sandwiches are available to order along with soups and salads. We tried the cachopo, a breaded pork filet stuffed with ham and cheese. Sandwiches are available in a quarter, a half, or a full of a 17 inch size and we found the quarter to be more than enough for lunch. Beverages include Mexican sodas and three house made drinks including a very good slightly sweetened iced coffee that we consumed. Dessert is available in the form of soft serve ice cream and we went with the strawberry as they were out of the leche merengada. Again the execution was nice in the form of a not too sweet strawberry flavor.
We’ll be going back to check out the other sandwiches in this great addition to the neighborhood!
