U Can’t Touch This…
Put on your best parachute pants after work ’cause MC Hammer is performing downtown this evening fromĀ 7 pm to 9 pm at the Woodrow Wilson Plaza at the Ronald Reagan Building (13th and Penn). (His real name is Stanley Burrell). The concert is free and we speculate that he will be performing his ’80s ’90s hit “U Can’t Touch This” tonight.
Big thanks to our reader CZ for pointing this out in time.

Ed. Note: We added photos from the show this evening.

he didn’t start until 8:15 pm (!) and the stage was smaller than he and his dance crew were used to…lots of bumping into each other. but, he is a good entertainer, a heck of a dancer and has a good share of the responsibility for mainstreaming rap into pop music along with the Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith) and Run DMC.
I was surprised by the turnout…the core part of the plaza was packed.
Maybe Hammer had a stake in mainstreaming pop-rap, but I definitely would not classify his music as rap.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Is this a joke, how can Hammer afford to play for free?
