Envy, Aisle 4
This past weekend we traveled to San Francisco and when we arrived we realized we’d forgotten to pack toothpaste. We quickly found a Walgreens off of Union Square, and when we walked in we found ourselves face to face with a Great Dane puppy. The dog was being led around the store by its master (a term that loses all meaning when Great Danes are no longer puppies) who was busily shopping through the store.
We didn’t think to take a photo of the pup, and thought little about it until the following day when we realized we were also out of bourbon (yes, the San Fran Walgreens sold beer, wine, and spirits too) and made our way to the same store. This time we found another dog shopping with its owner and quickly snapped a pic.
Don’t let the red jacket fool you, that’s no working dog it– was just chilly outside. There was no question that dogs were allowed in Walgreens, and no one even paid them much attention.
Now we haven’t actually tried to bring our hound into the 7th & H NW Walgreens, but something tells us they wouldn’t get the same warm reception.

The Walgreens in West End (at 22nd and M) allows dogs inside! As a former resident of West End, I did ask the 7th and H Walgreens and it was a negative…
