WMATA’s Art In Transit Program In A Mixed-Use Environment
A couple of days ago, the WaPo had an article on WMATA’s “expected to be approved” Art In Transit program. This program would basically pay musicians/performers to practice their craft outside of certain metro station entrances for a couple of hours at a time. Since the Residences At Gallery Place and the 701 Penn Ave Residences are located next to metro entrances, this blogger wanted to get the scoop on WMATA’s plans for those specific entrances.
After a brief email volley with WMATA, we were informed that WMATA will not approve any performances at station entrances that abut a residence.
Of course, that does beg the question: Does WMATA plan to disallow any unapproved enterprising individual from performing at their entrances?
