15th Street In Downtown To Get Residents?
If you look at our handy residential map in the right column of this blog, you’ll notice that there aren’t any residential buildings between 10th St and the White House. We noticed in the last few issues of the Downtown BID’s construction report (pdf) that SJG Properties was planning on renovating the Woodward office building at 733 15th St NW into 189 apartments and 100 parking spaces, but that plans had been stalled for quite some time.
Well, in the latest DC construction permit approvals, there is an item valued at ~1.3 million for 733 15th St! Is SJG getting started on delivering 189 new neighbors to our neighborhood?

I used to work in the Woodward Building. Funny to think of living there! I hope this project is a success. It could be really cool.
Has anyone on this blog been by the Woodward Building in the last eight months? The developer has been working on this nonstop since early spring, gutting the entire building. (Guess they didn’t get the memo about a delay) There’s a big sign on the west side of the building advertising a spring 2007 delivery. They will be luxury rentals.
I walk by the Woodward regularly. too bad they won’t be for sale. I agree with Richard that the facades are worthy of saving.

that’s a fabulous location and facade. Since it’s across the street from the White Hose, almost,
we know the Secret Service will run a security check on the occupants if this ever happens.
