Posted by pqresident
October 31, 2007

Tunnel Fine Wines & Spirits, a new wine, beer and liquor store adjacent to the Penn Quarter is now open at 311 H Street, NW. The store is in the center of a section of buildings that escaped the wrecking ball next to the recently opened Sonata condo where H Street meets Massachusetts Avenue. The Cave, the former [...]

Scandal: Washington Convention Center Gets Renamed To Washington Convention Center

Posted by gpliving
October 30, 2007

The WaBizJo has an article on how the Washington Convention Center is being renamed to honor DC’s first mayor, Walter E. Washington.  So, yeah, it’s still called the Washington Convention Center.  That was easy!
Though, Penn Quarter residents are no strangers to excessive naming of public spaces.  For example, we have the two Metro stations: Archives/Navy [...]

Posted by gpliving
October 28, 2007

We took the PQ Living helicopter up on Saturday and found workers busy dismantling the Smithsonian Reynold’s Center crane. This crane was used to construct the courtyard roof. It makes us wonder how soon the sidewalk at the corner of 9th & F St will be open?

Finger Licking Good In PQ?

This blogger has really been missing the Popeyes take out window that used to be on the corner of 11th & F.  Always having been a big fan of fried chicken (better chicken and sides at Popeyes, better biscuits at KFC), when I first moved to DC I used to metro from the Hill to Metro [...]

Top Shelf Now Penn Quarter Sports Tavern

Posted by Columbo
October 24, 2007

Local sports bar Top Shelf (639 Indiana Ave NW) has changed its name to the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern.  This blogger has spent a lot of time there this season watching the Bulls (until Rutgers) meteoric rise.  The bar is pretty nice for the most part, decent selection of reasonably priced beers & typical bar food.
The biggest problem with the bar is [...]
