Bomb Threat In Gallery Place This Afternoon *7th St Open Now*

Posted by gpliving
July 31, 2008

Update: 7th Street is open again.
7th Street is blocked off from H St NW past I St. The back alleys seem to be blocked off as well. Buildings are not being evacuated, but no pedestrians are allowed on the streets.
This is the best pic we could get so far!

Where’s The ‘Hoff When You Need Him?

Photo: Shirtless traditional (near side) and shirted bucket drummer (circled – far side)
It might as well have been a weeknight on NBC (America’s Got Talent) when we caught these dueling downtown drummers within earshot of each other one weekend. Shirtless drummer…solid rock four-four punctuated by an occasional jazz rhythm – check. Bucket drummer…go-go beat – [...]

Asia Nine’s outdoor seating was unveiled today! Location: 915 E St NW

Original Post:

Is Asia Nine about to join the ranks of PQ restaurants with outside seating? We caught workers unloading these chairs in the above photo from a pickup. These chairs sure look like outside seats to us. Just in time for [...]

Posted by pqresident
July 29, 2008

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Cribworthy condo we could profile and after some recent searching, we found one.

Asian Spice sits at the NE corner of H St & 8th St NW. Even though the main entrance is on H St, this restaurant has a considerable amount of frontage on 8th St. Additionally, the sidewalk on the 8th St side is very wide – we’ll be expecting to see a sidewalk [...]

Free Chicken At McDonald’s Today

Posted by Columbo
July 24, 2008

(Ed. Note:  These signs were up Saturday through Monday, but came down on Tuesday)

We think these signs might really there to keep dogs out of the flowers, but free food is free food.  Buy a medium or large drink today at McDonald’s (at least the McDonalds on E Street between 9th & 10th) and you can [...]

Franklin Homeless On The Way Out?

Posted by pqresident
July 23, 2008

While lunching at the 11th and NY Ave Subway two months ago, this writer chatted with a homeless man named Richard, a down on his luck guy dressed in worn khakis and a white oxford, cell phone on his belt. He definitely was not a benchcamper yelling obscenities surrounded by a thousand bags, a nasty [...]
