Where The Sidewalk [No Longer] Ends
Last week the gods of construction smiled upon us as they opened up the long closed off sidewalks on 11th & 12th Streets NW between F & G. The northern side of F Street between 11th & 12th was also opened. For what has seemed like an eternity these three sidewalk closures have been a pedestrian nightmare (which was even worse back when the NY buses picked up on 11th Street), but no more. Soon Guess will open Guess is also open at 1155 F Street and the lanes of traffic blocked by dumpsters and portable toilets will soon open up to automobile traffic. While we may wish Popeyes was moving back into the 11th & F corner, we’ll settle for a more walkable PQ.

There are some beautiful retail spaces in that complex. I can already imagine a downtown Old Navy in the old Lerner building. A boy can dream, right?
I *will* miss the Popeyes walk-up window on my walk home from work. fortunately, I can still get my walk-up kicks by going to Gifford’s (Ice Cream) during hot summer days.
Anon, Gifford’s is sub-par ice cream?? Are you outtayermind? Whole-heartedly agree with you about Popeye’s though (fast food sucks). 😉

Also, the sidewalks in front of the new-old D.C. Court of Appeals opened–E Street and Indiana Avenue, between Fifth and Fourth streets. Banners proclaim the courthouse will open soon.
