Restaurant Updates: D’Acqua and Ping Pong Dim Sum
Per the Top Shelf blog on the Washington Business Journal’s website, two restaurant updates are in order.
D’Acqua, the Italian seafood restaurant in Market Square on Pennsylvania Ave NW, is really closed and it’s due to a prospective bump up in rent. What type of restaurant do you think would be a good fill in for the space? [WaBizJo – D’Acqua Restaurant Has Closed]
Ping Pong Dim Sum, the first stateside installation of this Chinese dim sum chain from the UK, under construction on 7th Street NW just below Massachusetts Ave NW has a targeted December opening date. The website confirms this notion. We like their motto…”Little steamed parcels of deliciousness.” [WaBizJo – Ping Pong To Open In December]

We definitely could use a good Middle Eastern place! (I love Zaytinya but something slightly different would be a good addition. I also wish we had a good place for Middle Eastern _takeout_….which would probably not be ideal for the D’Acqua space but could go in one of the empty 7th Street spaces.) Also a good seafood place is always welcome.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Although I’d love to see some South American (no I don’t mean Mexican), Turkish or Lebanese representation, it’ll probably turn out to be another uptight steak house. By the way, every time I’ve walked by D’Acqua it always seems empty. I have never seen this place anywhere close to even half full. At such low turn outs they could pay the same rent I pay for my apartment here and still be losing money.
