Zaytinya Chef To Open New Restaurant In PQ
The Washington City Paper (via DCist) reports that the chef at Zaytinya, Mike Isabella, will be leaving on August 7th to open up his own restaurant – also in the Penn Quarter. The article states that he expects to sign the lease tomorrow! Isabella plans on offering a Venetian version of tapas.
Penn Quarter continues to make its name as the gastronomic center of DC.

Central Liquor is moving from their place on F to a place on E across from the Clara Barton. I spoke to the owner and he said a high-end restaurant is taking his old space. Maybe this one?
No offense, but does PQ really need another Tapas restaurant? I’m sure it will be great, but how about a new restaurant format that we don’t have yet like a French bistro.
Maybe the Olsson’s space that Wagamama doesn’t want?
@anonymous, what about Bistro d’Oc on 10th street?
Do the Clara Barton folks support a liquor store. Maybe if it was less like a liquor store (Zola wine or some other more updated look would be great). Also those Cental Liquor guys are sometimes helpful but sometimes not. You ask if they would ever carry a larger selection of craft beers and you get the disinterested maybe in the future comment.
I forgot about Bistro d’Oc, but still my point is that something different should come along, maybe an African restaurant?
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
the WCP article says Isabella is staying in the PQ for the new venture. the big question is which empty retail spot will get the nod?
