Peter Smith, former executive chef at Vidalia, is planning a restaurant at 777 Eye Street (IBEW Building) in Gallery Place/Penn Quarter and targeting an August opening. The name is TBD. Expect contemporary American cuisine with smaller plates and prices to match.

I believe that it is going to be next to Ruby Tuesday. Although there is currently a sign for Ecco Shoes in the window, the application in the window request liscening for a pool establishment.
The space for Bedrock actually looked like it was between the Comfort 1 and the Ecco. Maybe it’s below ground like the other billiards places.
Good eye – we’ll see if we can get more info. In related news, we noticed that there is still an empty space on the first floor of the Gallery Place complex approximately underneath Lucky Strike’s bowling lanes.
I think Bedrock is going downstairs, with the street level entrance at the door between the upcoming Ecco and Comfort One stores. Their liquor license application is in Ecco’s window at 714 7th St NW, but since they’re a door up, they might be 716 7th St?
That could be true, we were just being consistent with this post from the ANC meeting where it was referred to as Bedrock. But, the actual license application says “trade name: Comet” so we don’t know now!
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
This is good news. Also of note, I noticed that the application for a food and beverage license is in the window of the future home of bedrock billards.
Any word on what’s going on with Shimba Hills. Progress seems to have faltered.
