Stables Building (410-412 8th St NW) Up For Lease
The Stables Building at 410 and 412 8th St NW built in 1906, a well worn Penn Quarter original edifice, has been home to all sorts of uses and is now up for lease. A quick online search reveals that this address has hosted:
DC’s GED (General Equivalency Degree) testing center (this was a most recent use as the web page indicates the testing center was moved to the Sumner School on 17th Street NW on September 1, 2010)
The (Marriott) Hospitality Public Charter School (middle of the page)
DC’s Commission on the Arts and Humanities (top quarter of the page)
The Dance Institute of Washington (middle of the page)
University of DC’s Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant Program
Now it can be yours to occupy as the all too familiar commercial for lease signs are posted in the ground floor windows stating the full building is available with an accompanying listing posted online. The details? The building has a total of six floors with each floor clocking in at 6987 square feet for a total of just over 41K square feet billed with tall ceiling heights, operable windows, and a class C rating. (For a guide to office building ratings, check here.)
We’d love to see this building get a nice makeover – some ground level retail and an office tenant would do nicely. Maybe the market is ready to support a residential conversion to apartments or condos?
