Andale – What Will Become Of It?
Andale (401 7th Street) appears to be closed until further notice. Here’s what we know…
1) Tom Sietsma, popular WaPo restaurant critic, spoke to Andale management who indicated the restaurant is closed. The WaPo city guide also indicates the restaurant is closed.
2) The Andale web site is dark.
3) Calls to the restaurant were met with a simple message “The restaurant is closed for renovations.”
4) OpenTable, a popular online restaurant reservation system, indicates Andale is closed until August 15 for renovations.
5) All of the windows are covered with brown paper and the sign in the door says ‘Closed For Renovations.’

Not sure where else to post this, but this morning on my way to work, I saw a sign on the door at the old Ortanique, that “Posh Restaurant and Lounge” was coming soon. Does anyone have any info about what it will be like and when it will open?
I hope Andale reopens – they had one of my favorite happy hour specials in the neighborhood! Thanks for keeping us all posted.
Here’s yet another link with an account from a restaurant person on donrockwell:

Time will tell, I guess.
It’s likely not at the Andale location, but Jose Andres is expanding his Penn Quarter presence once again… http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/08/AR2006080800228.html
