Memorial Day Weekend means it’s BBQ time. Whether you’re the host, the guest, the Grillmaster or the SweetiePie, here are just a few things to get at the farmers’ market (3pm-7pm, 8th St., b/w D and E, NW) tomorrow to add some extra flavor to this weekend’s feast.
Nibbles for those early guests: A selection of cheeses from Everona Dairy and Clear Spring Creamery with charcuterie from Red Apron Butchery.
The best-tasting, locally raised meats from Evensong Farm or Gunpowder Bison. (Tip: top your Bison burgers with sautéed mushrooms from The Mushroom Stand)
Don’t forget some awesome pickles from Gordy’s Pickle Jar.
To finish it all off, fresh-picked, local, seasonal fruits like strawberries, blueberries and cherries from Black Rock Orchard or Sand Hill Farm. (Tip: My favorite Summer dessert is fresh berries with Angel Food Cake and whipped cream. Yum!)
Be sure to say thanks to the hostess with a custom made bouquet of flowers from Wollam Gardens.
