Construction At The House Where Lincoln Died?
Yesterday scaffolding began to go up at the House Where Lincoln Died.
The house is at 516 10th ST NW, perhaps this is part of the restoration which will soon begin for Ford’s Theatre?
Completed scaffolding this afternoon.

Wait, who said anything about razing? Some buildings on that block could definitely use some razing.
Aren’t they going to raze the Waffle House? I assumed Douglas was taking more than just the one building.
Anon: Sorry, yes – a permit has been applied for the razing of the Waffle Shop. I haven’t seen any mentions of razing any of the other buildings.. however, a search of the DC property database shows that Jemal owns 520 – 524 10th St NW (He bought 520 & 524 in September 2006).
It is likely that he will either raze all three, or preserve the facades of 520 and 524. The Waffle Shop is 522 10th St NW.
Of interesting note is that 520 and 524 were pretty popular brothels that were raided by the FBI last August. In fact, Jemal bought the two buildings almost 1 month after the two buildings were raided. Hilariously, Jemal named the new buying entity “JEMAL’S UP AGAINST THE WALL, LLC.”
Oh Douglas, you have quite a sense of humor!
I also noticed that the Flagg Bros. building is getting some work done. They’ve removed the old window boxes, and closed the sidewalk around the building.
LOL it was a clothing store that moved up georgia avenue. I bought some skater jeans there back in the day when it was still downtown.
Post has an article today about the renovation at Ford’s Theater. Says it’ll last 18 months, with a respite for the Theater to open up for A Christmas Carol this winter.

How much of the block is going to be razed? Could they be reinforcing the building in preparation for that?
