DC Passes Sorsum Corda Project To Toll Brothers For $60M
Sursum Corda, a public housing project opened in 1968, features both townhouses and apartment buildings and lies between K and L Streets from south to north and North Capitol and 1st Streets NW west to east. As development pushes eastward towards the NoMa neighborhood this is a large parcel that remained lagging behind in years. It’s been a focus of redevelopment for years as it lies in a valuable location. The DC government focused its improvement efforts on the area with added MPD law enforcement and a plan for redevelopment after the 2004 killing of a 14 year old girl, Princess Hansen, in the area.
This Washington Business Journal article captures all the details about the sale of the development to Toll Brothers for $60 million which will lead to a full redevelopment of this area near Penn Quarter.
