Holiday Season Exacts Toll On The Neighborhood (pics)

I noticed that Hotel Monaco gate the other day, any idea what happened?

Two car accident around 7:00 am on Saturday the 27th.

Sure it wasn’t a two tank accident outside Hotel Monaco? Looks like it must have been quite a violent collision to knock that granite off it’s mooring.

although I didn’t see the accident or the vehicles involved, I saw the shortly after results with the corner post pushed off its perch. the photo here shows the scene after the corner granite/stone post has been removed. there definitely was a lot of inertia going on behind whatever struck the corner.

Hey! I just noticed: is that a “rat rock” on the right side of the Hotel Monaco pic? (next to the tree)

That resturant under the broken staircase is a Vietnamese Pho restaraunt. But I have never seen it open, and there is not a “For Lease” sign anywhere. Anyone know what’s up with that space?

I ate there for dinner once this summer (pretty good, a friendly kid works the register while his mom and dad cook in the back – a true mom-and-pop operation), but I haven’t seen them open the last few times I’ve walked by either.

I ate there as well last summer. The Pho was decent but not even close to Pho 75 in Rosslyn. The place was also pretty dirty inside.

Good thing I took that 1st pic when I did, the staircase + fence have already been replaced as of today.
