My HOA has advised us that we may not leave our building (inside the security zone) between 4 and 7 a.m. I can’t find any reference to this on any of the main web sites (secret service, etc.). Does anyone know where to get confirmation of this rule? Thanks

Chris, that sucks. We’re allowed to go in and out of our building, we even have our own separate Security Checkpoint.

Comment by Andy in PQ on January 14, 2009 @ 10:45 am

701 Penn has the same rules. The separate checkpoint goes into affect at 7:00. We aren’t allowed out of our building between 4 and 7.

Tommy Wells Blog has information as well that is helpful.

Oh, my bad. I didn’t read thoroughly. the 4-7 AM rule is lockdown that you’re not going to be able to avoid

What if you had a medical or other emergency?

Comment by Chris on January 14, 2009 @ 7:36 pm

Does this mean that pedestrians from other parts of DC will not be able to walk into the security zone? I just need to walk two blocks down 6th & Penn to work, but if I can’t leave my building til 7, will there be tons of crowds already in front of me, having lined up at 5? Or are they holding them all outside the security zone? That’s why I’m so confused. Why are we in lockdown if tons of non-residents will be crowding up behind the security checkpoints? Thanks for everybody’s input.

I haven’t read much into it because I’m not going anywhere, but I don’t think there will be any vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed in the security zone between 4-7am during the security sweep. so i dont think the 2 block walk to work will pose any issues for you, or so i hope.

and Anonymous, if you’re going to die, I’m pretty sure they’re not going to make you stay inside your place….
