Love Potion No. 9
We finally got around to having dinner at Bibiana (1100 NY Ave NW) last weekend and had a great night out. Perhaps our favorite point in the evening came at the end of the meal. As we browsed the dessert menu (which included dessert wines & other beverages) we were intrigued by the house-made “Lemoncello for two.” When we asked about it our bartender produced a teardrop shaped bottle and two glasses.
Bibiana’s house-made Lemoncello was indeed excellent, but it is the presentation which is phenomenal. We recommend you pair the Lemoncello with cinnamon panna cotta or perhaps the tiramisu. We think it would be a great way to impress your date, or the perfect ending to a relaxing dinner.

@David – interesting.
I’ve been three times and eaten in the lounge twice and at the bar once. for appetizers, tried the cocktail onions and the risotto balls. both were fine…not amazing but fine. for dining, tried the tagliatelle a la bolognese and the salsiccia pizza (2x). the tagliatelle was about average – taste was OK but it could have been a little warmer. the pizza on the other hand is excellent which explains ordering it twice. for desserts, tried the cassis semifreddo and the bomba chocolate. the semifreddo was above average. the bomba, on the other hand, was fantastic.
service seemed OK. I was left alone for a period of time. but for the fact that I was reading the paper, some might have objected some might have not. the beer comes in a bottle so the beer is the beer and it was cold. wine list is Italian focused and they have some great Italian wines on the list. I will say that the lounge areas are very cozy and great for date night and I do like the decor.
so to sum it up…I’ll go back but I’m relying on pizzas and desserts for now. may try another pasta/entree if I’m feeling adventurous and am open to giving those another shot.

Also went to Bibiana on Saturday night and man, what a huge dissapointment. Now I am sure they are still working their kinks out but the four of us walked away completely uninspired by the food. The Datteri (Medjool Dates, Ricotta Salata, Pancetta, Almonds) were served hot and cuased otherwise large dates to shrink as all the sugar evaporated. The Polpettine (Veal Meat Balls in Sugo Finto) my friend said he could have made at home. Our entre’s were just about as blah including the risotta with melted cheese and next to no crab meat. This place is line with many “upscale” DC restaurants, lots of hype and overpriced food. Our server took the cake by being a complete male shovanist and only letting my friend and I order for our wives. I think next time we will just go back to Rasika.
