With the exterior facade of the corner bulding at 10th and F Streets completely refreshed, Madame Tussauds DC will open for a red carpet opening gala tonight and to the public tomorrow at 10 am. The first two days will see a $10 admission charge with a portion of the proceeds going to Bread for the City (regular adult admission is normally $25). Two red carpet openings in one week is more Hollywood than it is DC but that’s just the surface of it.
Seen above, President Lincoln recently made the trip to DC on a Delta flight from New York to take up residence in his new home at 1025 F Street, NW, with his 49 other pals including Hizzoner, Marion Barry, who’s likeness will be unveiled by the same at 5:30 pm tonight. Both Abe and Samuel Jackson can be seen through MT’s window at the corner of 10th and F. Photo ops for visitors abound inside.
We couldn’t help but point out our favorite line from the Washington Times story describing the process required to run the museum…”The sculptures require touch-ups every day, after visitors feel the hair or get even more intimate.” You’ll have to read it for yourself. Now, that’s entertainment!

I walked by the musem this morning as they were laying down the red carpet. I am excited that this museum is in the neighborhood. I think it will bring more foot traffic and help current and future retail in the area.

I drove by MT’s after getting grocerys last night – it looked like they pulled out all the stops. they had the spotlights going and the whole bit.
my only thought is that the regular ticket price is $25. the Spy Museum clocks in at $16 and there are lots of free museums in town. I can only trust that MT’s marketing and sales people ran the numbers to come up with the right price point in a town with lots of free, high quality options.

Try to get in on the reduced rate admission: today and tomorrow. $10.00! I think one visit might be sufficient for several years, might as well pay the reduced rate.
Anyone know what time MT’s will be open until tonight? I see an opening time of 10:00 a.m. posted on the Web site but nothing with regard to closing.
I called the museum and they said the last group will be let in tonight at 6:00 p.m. I though it might have been open later…it probably will when the price jumps to $25/person.
