Neighborhood to Welcome W Hotel in 2009
Say so long to the Hotel Washington. The D.C. landmark will be closing in January, 2008 to undergo a major reincarnation. The former Hotel Washington will soon be known as W Washington D.C.
The uber-chic boutique ‘W’ hotel chain is owned by Starwood Hotels. The W Washington D.C. will be the chain’s first Mid-Atlantic location. The hotel will feature 317 rooms, 32 suites and a rooftop spa.
The hotel is set to open in 2009. Looks like Hotel Monaco will have some competition!

The rooftop lounge at the Hotel Washington has all the right ingredients to be turned into a hip W bar. Hopefully they intend to use at least some of the space for that purpose and not convert all of it into a spa.
wow. looks like dc is going to have two W hotels to brag about. W also signed a letter of intent to open a location at the new development over the tracks at union station. if you do a search, you’ll see the info…

The last night of operation for the Hotel Washington will be New Year’s Eve. Looks like they are going out with a bang:
